ISLA HOLBOX :

Isla holbox is one of the best kiteboarding spots in
MEXICO. Because it unique position at the border of the carribbean sea and the Golf of Mexico it is most of the time windy at the beaches just in front of the HOTEL. The big advantage of ISLA HOLBOX is that you can kite with any wind direction. Most of the time you can walk or take a golfcar to the kitespot. For some wind direction you need a boat. That also can be provided by the hotel. At Casa las Tortugas we can inform you about all the conditiones and kitesizes and other tips you need to know.

WIND & CLIMATE

The best wind in Holbox are from December till May. During this time the wind is blowing between N and East 12 – 22 knots (most of the days NE which is side onshore from the right). In December the chances of rain are higher. But from January up to June the dry session starts. Once every 2 weeks there blows a northern wind witch is strong anywhere between 20 and 45 kn.
In December and January the temperature is between the 24 and 30 degrees Celsius and it is between the 30 and 35 degrees Celsius from February up to August. The water is warm. In the winter about 25 degrees and in summer up to 30 degrees Celsius.

WHERE TO KITE

Almost every day you can kite on the main beach which is almost 2 km long, this beach works best with winds from NW / N / NE .
If the wind is between E and SE we arrange a special kite trip to Punta Caracol or Punta Mosquito including rescue boat. For the directions SE / S / SW we have a special kite trip (also with rescue boat) to Punta Coco at the other site of the island.

ADVANCE COURSE

Here at Casa las Tortugas we have a new course. Which is a ADVANCED course. With this course we will push your limits. We will take you from your current level and learn you new tricks, tips and material knowledge of kiteboarding.

Some of the tricks that are in the program:

* High Jumps
* Varios hooked tricks (one footers, board-offs, kiteloop, downloops)
* Transitions.
* Unhooked tricks ( Railey's, F16, downloops, s-bends)
* Handle passes. ( we will work on your skills untill you make your first Handle pass)

Note: All of the above program depends on the current level of the rider.

The advance course is 3 hours per day. Inlc. boat if needed. Students can to bring there own equipment or renta equipment. The kiteschool "Holbox kiteboarding" has the newest slingshot equipment.

Price is 120 usd per day p.p.
